The practice above all practices is to relinquish the immature desire to be taken care of in false belonging and to parent our own originality. Again and again, our dreams demand leadership from us, calling our life’s vision forward into the world, step by tenderbrave step. –– Toko-pa Turner, Belonging: Remembering Ourselves Home
Integrating Our Vision with Soul Wisdom
A series of one-month courses through 2026
The Latin root videre "to see" is cognate with the Sanskrit root vid "to know." Our seeing is our inner knowing.
Why do we shut off our knowing? In The Myth of Normal, author Gabor Maté describes "small-t trauma," which is the trauma of "not being seen or known."
Vision relates to seeing and being seen. We first need to be seen by ourselves.
There are 2 levels of “seeing”. One relates to the seen, the item being perceived. The other relates to the seer, the one doing the seeing. Our perception of the seer can impact the condition of the seen. Therefore, I describe my vision journey as a journey of self-empowerment.
Description
Learn to improve your vision from the inside out.
In this series of sone-month courses on natural vision improvement, we explore the soul connection to vision against the backdrop of various disciplines, such as Jungian Psychology, Attachment Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Ayurveda, Polyvagal Theory, Quantum Physics, Yoga Psychology, and Vedanta.
This is the process through which my own mental and visual clarity has continued to heal.
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re new to vision improvement or a veteran. The only requirement is an openness to different perspectives.
As a trained Bates Method teacher, I may refer to the Bates Method at times, and the process I teach can be integrated with the Bates Method. However, the courses do not include instruction in the Bates Method, nor is any knowledge of the Bates Method required to attend.
The recording on the page linked above contains my personal invitation and a deeper understanding of my motivation behind this series of courses.

Palming with Stories
Stories awaken the right hemisphere of the brain and bring symbolism into our world, helping us make meaning out of chaos and see ourselves from a distance.
Our modern world is overly skewed to the left, logical, linear, list-making orientation.
Visualization brings our inner vision out into the world.
Live call
During the final week we will review the material, and share insights in a live call.
This will also be recorded for those who cannot attend in real time.
Course Themes & Dates
In Jungian terms, the shadow is everything we deny, repress, or don’t want to see about ourselves.
What we most resist seeing is often the thing that unlocks our next level of clarity.
The story of Vasalisa referred to below is a Russian folk tale which I first encountered in Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
Note: The themes for each of the first 5 courses correspond to the yamas from Patanjali Yoga Sutras.
Course 1: Attachment Wounds
Course dates: March 4 – 25, 2026
Live call: March 25, 2026, 10–11:30am Pacific time (time in your timezone)
Earlier in our lives, we have often had to “stay safe” by adapting to our environment. We hid parts of ourselves that seemed “problematic” – parts of us that didn’t feel safe to be seen by our caregivers or those close to us.
Or perhaps we were fortunate to have had such a safe space initially, but something happened that jolted that sense of safety.
We may develop insecure attachment, having little access to a felt sense of trust and safety in some part of our lives.
Thus we do violence to ourselves by suppressing our true being. We stop seeing parts of ourselves that we believe to be getting us into trouble.
Secure attachment can be learned. By being seen, soothed, and safe, we can become secure.
Story of Vasalisa
Vasalisa loses the protection of the too-good mother and is subjected to traumas from those who should protect her. She receives the blessing of the doll which is the protection bestowed on her by Life.
Connection to Vision
We may have learned to retreat from the world (common with myopia) or escape into the world (*hyperopia* or presbyopia).
Not seeing is connected to not being seen.
Course 2: Authenticity
Course dates: April 15 – May 6, 2026
Live call: May 6, 2026, 10–11:30am Pacific time (time in your timezone)
When young, we yearn for belonging and often sacrifice our authenticity in the belief that it will foster connection. We give our energy away to others hoping it will make us feel more whole.
At some point, we may realize the sacrifice is too much and need to reexamine our unconscious choices. This can trigger fear and uncertainty since we may fear abandonment or rejection.
We are being encouraged to move from the seen to the unseen — from what we have believed to a deeper sense of knowing.
When we realize that we have unconsciously already abandoned ourselves, then we can have the courage to trust ourselves more, lean into our truth, and examine our narratives.
Story of Vasalisa
Vasalisa hides her true nature and the truth about the doll (her inner knowing) for a false sense of belonging with her stepfamily. Her inner beauty is neither seen nor valued — neither by others nor by herself.
Connection to Vision
Our seeing is our inner knowing. We only truly know what we have seen and experienced.
Visual blur can manifest when we are not living in alignment with our authenticity.
Course 3: Flow
Course dates: June 3 – 24, 2026
Live call: June 24,, 2026, 10–11:30am Pacific time (time in your timezone)
Every moment we have a choice to step towards or away from our natural flow. We have an opportunity to stay rooted in fear (rigidity) or trust a little more. Or perhaps we are called to slow down enough from our tendency to get too involved in the outer world (chaos) in order to hear our inner voice.
By seeing ourselves as beings filled with potential rather than coming from deficiency, we participate in a flow state with the environment. We move from the seen (the outer world) to the seer (the one who sees).
In Jungian terms, we can become aware of the tension of the opposites — that when we can hold the possibility that two things which seem to be polar opposites can both hold truth, a third option can appear which we couldn’t previously see.
Story of Vasalisa
When Vasalisa could face her fear of going into the forest, the flow of her life began to change from rigidity (a stuck pattern) to something new. She had to be willing to trust her intuition (represented by the doll) to guide her into the unknown (represented by the darkness).
Connection to Vision
Rigidity can manifest as fear of the unknown (typical for myopia). Chaos might appear as staying too involved outwardly to listen to the inner voice (typical for hyperopia / presbyopia).
Course 4: Wise Use of Energy
Course dates: July 22 – August 12, 2026
Live call: August 12,, 2026, 10–11:30am Pacific time (time in your timezone)
The parts of ourselves with which we are uncomfortable go into our unconscious and become part of our shadow which we project onto others.
As we become acquainted with our own disowned power, we need to refine our senses to sort the true from the false, sweep away outmoded ways of thinking, and examine the adaptations we have made in order to live in the world.
We also need to surrender to a higher knowing and trust that even though we are being asked to do what seems impossible, we will receive exactly the help we need at the right time when we commit to the journey.
We feel a renewed sense of energy knowing that we are supported by Life.
Story of Vasalisa
Vasalisa needed to serve Baba Yaga by sorting poppy seeds from millet, cleaning the house, and washing and mending the laundry. Though the tasks seemed impossible and she felt she must surely die, she received help from the doll when she most needed it.
Connection to Vision
The renewed sense of energy we feel brings life and vibrancy to our senses as well so they can help us accomplish our tasks.
Course 5: Discernment
Course dates: September 30 – October 21, 2026
Live call: October 21,, 2026, 10–11:30am Pacific time (time in your timezone)
By being willing to let go of an old adaptation, something new can emerge that reveals our wisdom.
This was the task symbolized by sorting the poppy seeds from the millet — learning to distinguish the true from the false.
Now we have to be willing to let go that which isn’t healthy, which no longer promotes our growth. Or perhaps we realize now that it never promoted our growth but we idealized it to believe it did. We created an illusion which is no longer sustainable.
When we are willing to stand firm on our truth even if it means letting go of old support structures, Life will support us in different ways.
Story of Vasalisa
Vasalisa returns to her old life bearing a skull with an inner flame, which burns the stepfamily to cinders. Her old way of being has died (the skull) revealing her inner wisdom and clear seeing (the flame).
Connection to Vision
Our entire way of seeing Life changes because we see ourselves differently. Our physical vision often responds in kind.
Course 6: Wholeness
Course dates: November 18 – December 9, 2026
Live call: December 9, 2026,, 10–11:30am Pacific time (time in your timezone)
When we feel that we are out of alignment with soul purpose, Life circumstances may conspire to turn us in another direction.
Change can feel scary and trigger fears of losing our sense of grounding.
Our previous adaptations may have been to hide emotions, to blur out what feels uncomfortable. When we are willing to see our truth, we gain the power to act from agency — to respond rather than react to Life.
Slowly we may notice that, even when not understood by those close to us, new energy is flowing towards us more in line with our new "frequency."
This is the concept of individuation.
Story of Vasalisa
Vasalisa lives a full and meaningful life but never forgets the skull and the forest – that she needed to surrender her initial adaptations and confront the unknown to step into her rightful inheritance.
Connection to Vision
Our journey towards wholeness and psychological integration brings us a clearer vision of our life.
Mental clarity brings a sharpening of our senses, including our vision.
Testimonials
The Kind Eyes webinar was super helpful and full of insights and AHA moments. I loved how she interweaved the physical knowledge of the eye with the Ayurvedic perspective and opening up the question of the physical vision to that of the greater vision of one’s own life. The kind eyes practice was profound. She is a very kind and generous teacher who shares from her own life experience and manages to transfer complex information in an easy, digestible and inspiring way. The way she leads and attracts a curious audience with calm confidence and trust in her pool of wisdom and knowledge is something that left a lasting impression on me. Thank you very much Nalini for this experience and for the way you held the space for us students to explore. – Stephanie P., Austria
During Nalini’s course, I had several clear flashes after her guided practices, I learned some empowering concepts such as each individual’s Sacred Point of View, and I was inspired to make some changes in my routine that make me feel more aligned with Nature. Her presentations were very well put together, and her artistic touch made them visually pleasing. I love that I can go back and repeat the practices and get a deeper understanding of some very interesting topics. You could tell that she enjoyed teaching the course and relished in our success. I highly recommend taking Nalini’s course for a unique perspective on Natural Vision improvement, and healthy living in general. – Art B., California
Nalini's session incorporates Ayurveda, Neurobiology, and beautiful palming sessions that put you at ease and at peace. The foundation for our eyes and wellbeing is health and Nalini's Wisdom of the Eyes helped me to reinvigorate and prioritize my health. She creates a space where our eyes and our experiences can be seen and appreciated for all that they are. I always enjoy Nalini's wisdom and am thankful for the wisdom our eyes give us.
– Marinah Z., Canada
The way I think of my eyes now after taking the course is way different than how I used to take them before. Before, they were just the sense organs for light; now, they are intelligent, guiding stars of the soul. – Maryam J., Saudi Arabia
Nalini teaches with a Peaceful presence and integration of skills to take you on a journey of seeing with your spirit and an opening of Your soul to see whats behind Your perception of Your life. – Mark D., California
Nalini’s course is so rich and varied; with a profound wisdom that leads us to explore the very foundations of what we have considered vision to be and how we relate to our eyes. In each aspect of the many approaches that Nalini invites us to explore, there was a nugget which echoes in my daily life since the end of the course. In fact, ‘the end’ is kind of a misnomer, since the echoes continue and deepen since the last session! I had already worked with Nalini individually before taking part in this group course, so had already profoundly changed my way of seeing and relating to my eyes. But the energy of this course encouraged me to take a final step that I had shrunk back from, which was to let go of my glasses and rely only on the pinhole ‘glasses’ (which have no glass!) when I need to distinguish some small numbers or letters. I have now been a month without touching the reading glasses that I was still using as a crutch, after having left my progressive lenses behind. My eyes are thanking me for allowing them to adjust naturally, without being forced to focus by the correction in the glass. I feel they are finally free to recover by themselves, with my support and the backup of Nalini, who I know will always have a pearl of a suggestion for me, should I need it! Thank you Nalini and those who went before you, opening up this most natural way to restore our natural vision.
